Outdoors Day at the Catskills Visitor Center is run in partnership between the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the Catskill Center. This year the event will take place on Saturday, June 12th from 10am to 3pm. The Catskills Visitor Center’s Upper Esopus Fire Tower will be open all day, and all participants in Outdoors Day will receive a small backpack with outdoor giveaways! There will be DEC staff, New York State licensed outdoor guides, and Catskill Center staff hosting the following walks, talks, and activities:

10am-11:30am Map and Compass Navigation

10am-11:30am Introduction to Outdoor Photography

10am-3pm Archery throughout the day

12pm-1pm Leave No Trace Discussion and Q&A

1pm-2:30pm How to Pack a Backpack and Set up a Campsite
