Leave No Trace Hike at Kaaterskill Falls with the Catskill Center Stewards – Hike for the Catskills
Arrive at the Laurel House parking lot by 9am to secure a parking space and meet the Catskill Stewards at the kiosk at the beginning of the trail.
We will hike down to the Kaaterskill Falls Viewing Platform. Along the way, our Catskill Stewards will talk about some of the issues of concern on trails and how to Recreate Responsibly.
The first half of our hike is an accessible 0.6 round-trip hike to see Kaaterskill Falls. After this, the group will split off: those who are comfortable with a 1.6-mile steep and rocky hike will follow a Steward to the middle pool of Kaaterskill Falls to get up close to the waterfall. Those who prefer to stay on a level path will follow our second Steward to the Rail Trail for a 1-mile walk while learning a bit about the history of the area. Please bring water, and wear hiking boots or shoes. Sandals are not permitted on the hike.
